Summer at the Glen Manor House
I returned to the Glen Manor House last week for a wedding. I always say it's one of my favorite venues. The caretakers Katie and Don keep this property looking fabulous for the couples celebrating here, and it's a boon for photographers too.
My bride and groom were a pleasure to work with. The weather was unsettled, with passing rain showers keeping us guessing as to whether we'd get any time outside, but they weren't deterred by the forecast to having fun.
While groomsmen prepared for pictures they reminded me how I'd photographed many of their high school senior photos. I looked at them and sort of rolled back a few years in my head remembering what they looked like in the yearbook. I'm always honored when past clients come back to me for wedding pictures.
The ceremony on the patio made for a nice change of location, and with a few sprinkles still taking place the loggia was a fine setting for some casual formal portraits while still feeling like we were outside.
The rain abated just long enough for us to shoot on the grounds. I didn't wan to push them for the lengthy walk to the dock. They were game, and asked first! If given the chance to shoot, I'm not one to say no.
I loved the dramatic clouds on the dock photos, but it's really the subjects that make it all work. These two are pretty down to earth and not big posers, but they have great chemistry together and it made the pictures shine.
